Hannes Portmann , , , President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Portmann is President and Chief Executive Officer of New Gold. Having joined New Gold’s predecessor company, Western Goldfields, in 2008, and following its 2009 merger with New Gold, Mr. Portmann’s primary focus was leading New Gold’s corporate development team, which completed various plans of arrangement and business combinations with Richfield Ventures, Geo Minerals, Silver Quest Resources and Rainy River Resources, as well as the sale of New Gold’s 30% interest in El Morro. Since that time, he has taken on progressively more responsibility for other facets of the business, and was appointed Executive Vice President of Business Development in 2016 with responsibility for investor relations, human resources and exploration, and most recently was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of New Gold as of January 2017. Before joining Western Goldfields, he was an Associate in the Merrill Lynch Investment Banking Mining Group, where he worked in an advisory role on merger and acquisition mandates as well as equity and debt offerings. Previously, Mr. Portmann held roles in both the assurance and advisory practices of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Mr. Portmann holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University, a Masters of Management and Professional Accounting from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto and is a Canadian Chartered Accountant.

Brian Penny , , , Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Penny has over 24 years of experience in mine finance and accounting. He has been the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company since June 2009. He was the Chief Financial Officer of Western Goldfields from 2006 to 2009. From 2005 to spring 2011, Mr. Penny was also the Chief Financial Officer of Silver Bear Resources Inc. From 2004, Mr. Penny was a Director of and chaired the Audit Committee of Equinox Minerals Limited until the acquisition of the company by Barrick in 2011. Mr. Penny was the Chief Financial Officer of Kinross Gold Corporation 1993 – 2004. Mr. Penny is a Certified Management Accountant.

Raymond Threlkeld , , , Director and Interim Chief Operating Officer

Raymond Threlkeld has over 30 years of mineral industry experience. From 2009 to 2013, Mr. Threlkeld was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Rainy River Resources Ltd. From 2005 to 2009, Mr. Threlkeld was the Chief Operating Officer of Silver Bear Resources Inc. From 2006 to 2009, he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Goldfields Inc. From 1996 to 2005, Mr. Threlkeld held various senior management positions in precious metal mine development with Barrick Gold Corporation and Coeur d’Alene Mines Corporation including the development of the Pierina Mine in Peru, the Bulyanhulu Mine in Tanzania and the Veladero Mine in Argentina. Mr. Threlkeld has had exploration acquisition success in the Western United States in addition to his management and project development experience. In March 2014, Mr. Threlkeld was appointed Chair of the Board of Newmarket Gold Inc. Mr. Threlkeld’s principal occupation is a Corporate Director and consultant on natural resource development.

Cory Atiyeh , , , Vice President, Operations

Cory Atiyeh is Vice President, Operations of New Gold. Mr. Atiyeh has over 30 years of experience in the mining industry. He joined Western Goldfields in 2006 as Vice President and General Manager of the Mesquite Mine in California, where he was responsible for the management and successful re-start of mine operations. Western Goldfields merged with New Gold in 2009. Prior to Western Goldfields/New Gold, Mr. Atiyeh held progressively more senior roles with Gold Fields Limited, including General Manager of the St. Ives Gold Mine in Kambalda, Western Australia, one of Australia’s largest gold mines, producing over 500,000 of gold annually. Mr. Atiyeh holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology.

Mr. Marshall joined New Gold following the acquisition of Richfield Ventures Corp in 2011 and since that time has led the completion of the feasibility study for Blackwater and the feasibility update study for Rainy River. Prior to joining New Gold, Peter was the Senior Vice President–Project Development for Terrane Metals Inc. and was responsible for managing the technical development of the Mt. Milligan project from the initial PEA studies through to final feasibility and the commencement of the project design and construction. Prior to joining Terrane, Peter was employed for 17 years in the Project Development Group of Placer Dome. Peter holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of British Columbia.

Armando Ortega , , , Vice President, Latin America

Mr. Ortega is New Gold's Vice President of Latin America and Managing Director of Minera San Xavier S.A. de C.V. Previously he was Vice President, Legal and General Counsel At Southern Copper, a subsidiary of Grupo Mexico. Prior to that he was the General Counsel of Grupo Mexico and had also held positions in the Mexican federal government where he participated in trade negotiations with the US and Canada (NAFTA) and the European Union. Mr. Ortega is an attorney at law from the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City where he graduated with honours. He is also a member of the Board of both the Mexican Mining Chamber and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Petersen is an economic geologist with over 29 years of experience in precious and base metals exploration throughout the Americas. His background includes a variety of assignments ranging from early stage exploration programs leading to deposit discovery, through post-discovery exploration and mineral resource development, to mine site exploration to expand and replace reserves. Before joining the company in 2008, Mr. Petersen was Vice President of Exploration for Metallica Resources Inc. where he had worked since 1995. For the 11 years prior, Mr. Petersen worked with Lac Minerals Inc. and its predecessor companies Bond Gold Inc. and St. Joe Gold Inc. as an exploration geologist. Mark is a Certified Professional Geologist and holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science Degrees in Geology and a Master's Degree in Business Administration.
