Mesquite is located in Imperial County, California, approximately 70 kilometers (43 mi) northwest of Yuma, Arizona and 230 kilometers (144 mi) east of San Diego, California. The Mesquite Mining District lies beneath alluvial pediment deposits at the base of the Chocolate Mountains.
